Enterprise Music Scotland have organised a series of free short concerts around the country.

In Biggar, the Granny Green Trio are performing in the Gillepsie Centre from 12.30 to 13.30.

Based in Glasgow, Granny Green has recently emerged as one of the most exciting and diverse new ensembles in Scotland.

The trio of friends – Holly Boddice, Rachel Brown and Lizy Stirrat – met whilst studying at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland. Having all previously won solo and ensemble awards, they now complement each other in a mix of technical wizardry and, above all, musical talent. The core instrumentation of the group is trumpet, accordion and tuba, and with that, the Grannies have brought about a brand new and quirky sound, which naturally brings a contemporary feel to their world folk music.

"This was the first band since...2009 that has made smile from ear to ear at sounds that belong to no genre and are entirely original"

Stephen Watt, Mumble Music, Celtic Connections 2015

Subscription income from members is vital to the future of Biggar Music, for without it, it would be difficult to make the necessary planning decisions and contract commitments for each season, which usually have to be made at least a year in advance.  We survived Covid times, so now we want to ensure a long-term future with the wide range of talent available in Scotland and beyond.
