Euan Stevenson

A treat for our Jazz fans, Euan Stevenson is well known to local audiences and has kindly supplied us this link to a beautifully filmed recording from the Glasgow Jazz Festival in 2020 - Leonard's Lament and other pieces. We are very much looking forward to his next visit to Biggar along with his playing partner Konrad Wisniewski.
Euan has performed in solo, duo and group settings in clubs, theatres and concert halls throughout the UK, Europe and America. In performance, he is a musician with an intrinsic desire to communicate, both via the music but also his light hearted yet illuminating commentary - typically drawing parallels between classical and jazz genres whilst humbly revealing their influence on his own writing and playing.
His compositions and performances have been broadcast across BBC Radio, Classic FM and Jazz FM. BBC Radio Scotland have described his compositions as "lush, modern and brilliantly accessible" and The Sunday Times' reviewer found his writing “concise and hauntingly original.” He has been shortlisted for The Scottish Album of the Year Award and the Scottish Jazz Awards (he was recipient of the Emerging Artist Award in 2013), and in 2015 he was one of three UK composers nominated for the prestigious Paul Hamlyn Award for Composition.
